Silhouette is a name exclusive to Hunter Douglas, but other manufacturers do offer it as well under different names such as Window Shadings as with Alta. The concept of this shade is to offer a light, airy feel to a product that functions like a blind in the sense that it has “S” shaped louvers that open and close as well as it being fully retractable. The big difference with this product is that the material is a soft fabric suspended between two very fine UV filtering mesh shades. Also, they are available in both light filtering and room darkening fabrics, as well as sizes from 2 inches all the way up to 4 inches. There are many colors and options to choose from.
Hunter Douglas offers it with the top down / bottom up option exclusively. One great feature with this product is that when down but in the open position, you can enjoy the view through the mesh material which can insulate up to 81% of the UV rays.
